Description
A famous quote by General Douglas MacArthur - I see that the old flagpole still stands. Have our troops hoist the colors to its peak, and let no enemy ever haul them down. - is paired with a close up of the American flag rippling in the wind. Photography software filters have been used to create an effect of the American flag and patriotism under pressure with gritty textures, tears, scuffs, grain, urban grime, dark vignette, etc. The whole image is meant to represent the undying will and unyielding fortitude of the values of freedom and liberty, along with those who believe in living by and protecting those same virtues. A very poignant image and quote Lincoln. The textures, deep rich colors, and angled composition of the flag are all beautiful decisions.
Lincoln Rogers replied:
Glad to have this feedback from you, Jamie! I was hoping an urban photographer like yourself would like the treatment.

I wonder if he said that upon his return to the Phillippines after Bataan? It is very moving Lincoln - we don't often see a dirty flag- very compelling!
